City of Lorenzo tables ban on semi-trucks, tractors and campers

LUBBOCK, Texas — The City of Lorenzo tabled agenda item two on Monday’s council agenda to ban semi-trucks, farming tractors, and campers within city limits.

Dozens showed up from the farming and trucking community to voice their opinions on the agenda items, including farmer and Crosby County Farm Bureau representative, Josh Sp.

“I do understand there has to be some ordinances for safety concerns, things like that. But I think the common sense is that hey, we got jobs to do,” Sp. said.  “We’re farmers, we got to farm, truckers got to the truck, they got things to do, and I hope they can, like I said, just [come to] a good common sense solution.”

Some citizens supported an ordinance against tractors and trucks in residential areas for safety concerns. Mayor Lori Landin said this agenda item was to help start the conversation on finding a safer solution for the entire community…
