Tigard-Tualatin school board looks at eliminating almost 40 teaching positions

As many as 61 Tigard-Tualatin School District licensed full-time equivalent teaching positions — which include 38 teaching positions — are expected to be cut under a proposal recently approved by the Tigard-Tualatin school board.

At issue is trimming $10.7 million needed to offset a budget deficit in the 2025-26 school year.

In addition to the teaching positions, eliminating 11 classified positions (custodians, educational assistants, bus drivers and more) and two administrative positions would be included in what the district is referring to as a reduction in force…
