PHOENIX — Tempe residents recycled a record amount of household hazardous waste last year, according to city officials.
Residents used the city’s yearly Zero Waste events, as well as Tempe’s Household Products Collection Center (HPCC), to recycle 463,628 pounds of waste. HPCC has helped residents safely dispose over 7.4 million pounds of hazardous waste since its opening in 1999.
“For reference, in 2023 the HPCC and Zero Waste day events recycled 394,200 pounds of waste,” Tempe spokesperson Maegan Pardue told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday. “In 2024, the HPCC and our Zero Waste Days collectively recycled more waste than any other year since the HPCC’s opening in 1999.”…
