Body seen floating in Willamette River prompts investigation

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A dead body was discovered in the Willamette River on the 13300 block of NW Marina Way, prompting a response from Portland Fire and Rescue.

“This is sounding like a body recovery,” said Portland Fire and Rescue. A spokesperson said reports indicated sightings of a floating body, saying it “appears to have been dead [a] while,” while another caller mentioned following the body as it moved downstream.

A radio transmission confirmed the body was dead. Crews are currently formulating a plan to secure the body and transfer the case to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, as the incident falls under their jurisdiction…
