LIVE: Tracking windstorm impacts across Southcentral Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Strong winds are impacting much of Southcentral Alaska Wednesday and are expected to continue through early Thursday morning.

Gusty winds are strengthening across Southcentral, with peak wind gusts already topping out at more than 90 mph through South Anchorage, to more than 70 mph in Portage, and to near 50 mph in Homer, Kenai and Palmer.

Winds will continue to increase through the day, with the High Wind Warning for the hillsides of Anchorage and Eagle River, as well as Portage, expiring at 1 a.m. Meanwhile, areas of the Aleutians and Southwest Alaska will continue to hold onto gusty winds, snow and areas of wintry mix.
