STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Americans will need to begin using Real ID May 7 for a host of federal purposes, including domestic flights.

New Yorkers can determine whether they have a Real ID by checking if their license, learner’s permit or non-driver ID has a star or flag on it. If not, then the document is not Real ID-compliant.
