Friday weather interesting in Michigan: Very warm, possible severe storms

The weather set-up Friday is going to be very different from what we’ve had so far this spring. A large temperature change over a small area will put half of Lower Michigan in a summer-like air mass.

The high temperature map for Friday gives you a really good visual on this large temperature gradient from south to north. From Saginaw to Mount Pleasant to Big Rapids and southward the afternoon temperatures should soar to the 75 degree to 80 degree range. We may not hit 80 degrees anywhere in southern Lower Michigan, but 78 degrees is very likely.

This warm-up probably really takes hold in just a few hours Friday afternoon. Get ready for an amazingly warm feel to develop very quickly Friday afternoon. This is for Saginaw, Bay Ctiy, Midland, Flint, Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Detroit and all of far southern Michigan.

Northern Michigan’s temperatures will depend on two periods of showers and thunderstorms. In fact all of Michigan’s temperatures will depend on these two periods of showers. It’s just that southern Michigan’s position in these two areas of showers is more certain…
