NLE Choppa reads to preschoolers at Porter-Leath South Memphis Spring Egg Hunt

MEMPHIS, Tenn — Memphis native and rapper NLE Choppa visited Porter-Leath’s Early Childhood Academy in South Memphis Wednesday to read his children’s book to students in preschool and Early Head Start programs during their annual Spring Egg Hunt.

The rapper’s book, “Cricket Stop Cricking,” highlights the importance of mutual respect and open-mindedness.

“What inspired me to write this book [is] I was in the studio…making a song, and there was a cricket that was in the studio walls. And every time I would start to record, the cricket would start cricking,” said NLE Choppa, whose real name is Bryson Potts. “And I must have yelled out loud, ‘Cricket, stop cricking.’ And I was like, ‘That sounds like a movie or a book or something.'”…
