Nashville Zoo welcomes red river hog piglet

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The team at the Nashville Zoo got a surprise earlier this week when red river hog, Tater, gave birth to a new piglet.

The piglet was born Tuesday, April 1. The Nashville Zoo said the hoofstock team had detected some behavioral changes and some changes in Tater’s appearance. The pregnancy was confirmed with an ultrasound. However, the team did not expect the piglet to be born so soon — finding him weak, cold and covered in afterbirth that morning.
