Springfield, MO – Strong thunderstorms are expected to develop overnight along and north of Interstate 44 in Missouri, bringing the threat of large hail and intense lightning early Thursday morning.
According to the US National Weather Service in Springfield, isolated storms may form between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday, with the potential to produce hail up to the size of quarters. The highest risk zone includes communities situated along I-44 from Joplin through Springfield and toward Rolla. Areas south of Springfield are expected to receive lighter rainfall and face a lower chance of severe weather.
