‘Waste of taxpayers’ dollars’: Report calls out City of Albuquerque remodel project

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An IG investigation claims that Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller’s Administration’s remodel of part of the old city hall may have been a “waste” of taxpayer dollars, after city crews kept redoing the design.

Albuquerque’s Inspector General said the city spent tens of thousands of dollars updating a project again and again. While they, in part, claim the IG isn’t “credible”, a city councilor told KRQE News 13 the expenditure is “not okay.” “It’s not acceptable, it’s just not acceptable,” said Albuquerque City Councilor Renee Grout.

The reaction comes amid claims from the Inspector General that thousands of Albuquerque taxpayer dollars have gone to waste amid a nearly three-year renovation project at old City Hall…
