Dog’s body temperature reached 103 degrees, found trapped in vehicle at Colorado resort

Don’t let cooler spring temperatures fool you into thinking it’s safe to leave a dog in a vehicle – even if you’re in the Colorado high country and surrounded by snow.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, local animal control officers recently responded to a report involving a dog left in a vehicle with the windows closed at Copper Mountain. Upon arrival at the scene, the dog didn’t appear to be showing signs of distress – though that would soon change.

Authorities made attempts to contact the owner of the vehicle, though that was unsuccessful, with temperatures continuing to rise as the day progressed…
