A 62-year-old man in Ohio went into cardiac arrest while he was sedated and undergoing a dental procedure at a practice in Indiana and died less than two weeks later, according to multiple news stories dated April 15.
Larry Lewis, of Haviland, OH, was sedated on March 13 at an unidentified dental practice in Allen County, IN. During the dental procedure, Lewis experienced a cardiopulmonary arrest event, according to news stories.
Dental staff tried to resuscitate Lewis until emergency medical personnel were able to transfer him to a nearby hospital. Family members said that Lewis stopped breathing for about 15 minutes and was eventually placed on a ventilator. Magnetic resonance imaging showed Lewis had brain damage.
