Thousands of pills, pounds of meth: Four W MI men sentenced for drugs this week

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Four men were sentenced to years in prison for having and planning to distribute nearly 20,000 disguised pills containing fentanyl, 340 grams of cocaine and pounds of methamphetamine, among other drugs, according to federal attorneys.

Andrew Birge, acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Michigan said the cases show the prevalence of illegal drugs in West Michigan.

10,863 ‘DISGUISED’ PILLS

In March 2024, 33-year-old Lonnie Morrow was pulled over in Kalamazoo County. Officers found 10,863 pills that looked like 30mg Oxycodone pills but actually contained over 1 kilogram of fentanyl. Officers searched his apartment the same day and found over 170 grams of cocaine, more than $12,000, amphetamine and morphine pills and three guns, according to federal attorneys.

Morrow was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years, 8 months in federal prison. He had pleaded guilty in December to charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, U.S. attorneys said.

During sentencing, Chief U.S. District Judge Hala Y. Jarbou said while fentanyl is dangerous on its own, when it’s “disguised” in pill form, it creates more danger.

18 POUNDS OF METH

Thomas Davis, 50, will spend 17 years and 6months in prison for possession with intent to distribute meth and cocaine. In July of 2024, about 18 pounds of meth and 70 grams of cocaine were found in Davis’ Kalamazoo County apartment, federal attorneys said…
