First responders across South Carolina take part in mass casualty exercise

LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — First responders were put to the test in Laurens County on Wednesday during a large-scale mass casualty exercise.

Participants had to navigate a variety of different scenarios at the Sawmill Training Complex in Laurens County.

“This will be our second EMS [multi-county] exercise,” said Steve Brown, President and co-owner of the complex. “Coroners’ offices, EMS, first responders, fire, search and rescue [will participate]. This year’s scenario is a tornado hits a public park, it’s crowded with people who are camping.”…
