INDIANAPOLIS — A mobilization of about 50 members of the Indiana National Guard sent to the U.S. southern border is ending, and members deployed on the mission will return in the coming weeks, officials said Wednesday.
Operation Lone Star began in April 2024 when the Indiana contingent was sent to provide support to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the members of the Texas National Guard. The request for Indiana assistance came from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in early 2024.
