AUDIO: Portage setting aside money for more 2024 tornado cleanup efforts

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Residents who survived last year’s tornado in Portage are now saying they face new threats.

Two residents complained to the Portage City Council that damaged forests are now a hazard to the neighborhood, one complaining about the potential for wildfires and the other because a pack of coyotes has moved in.

City Manager Pat McGinnis says they have set aside $150,000 from state disaster relief funds for tree replacement, but it won’t be nearly enough…
