MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — While the population continues to boom on the Treasure Coast, that doesn’t mean schools are feeling the benefits. In Martin County, enrollment in schools is down, so the district has found a new way to bring in money.
It’s all about advertising to local businesses, they’ll be selling the naming rights to their athletic fields and facilities, just like the professional sports teams do with their stadiums and arenas.
“This is a way, you know, separate from aside from the number of students that we have, that we’ll be able to increase our revenue and hopefully offer more things to our students and our employees and such,” MCSD coordinator of public information and community relations Derek Lowe said…
