‘It’s horrific’: Grandmother of 12-year-old speaks following Wednesday hit-and-run

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – In two videos obtained by News 8 on Wednesday, the terrifying moments leading up to a 12-year-old boy being struck by a car and the aftermath can be seen, which resulted in him being hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

According to Rochester Police, officers responded to the intersection of Avenue D and Bauman Street at around 12:30 a.m. early Wednesday morning for reports of a motor vehicle accident. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.

Late Wednesday morning, our journalists spoke with the victim’s grandmother, Melissa, at the intersection where the accident occurred. She shared the boy’s name is Elijah, and he was riding an electric scooter alongside his father at the time he was struck…
