New commissioner tours OK County jail, trustee believes sales tax vote is imminent

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Okla. ( KFOR ) – After only one week on the job, newly elected Oklahoma County Commissioner Jason Lowe took a tour inside the county jail. Improving the troubled facility was one of Lowe’s campaign platforms.

“We have a lot of work to do,” said Lowe shortly after he toured the jail.

He saw firsthand the conditions inside the building, reiterating the growing problems KFOR has mentioned over several months of failed health inspections, deaths, and inhumane conditions. “This is a very important issue for me. My life’s work is criminal justice reform,” said Lowe. “This is definitely priority number one.”…
