Health officials in Rockwall County issued a public health notification after confirming a case of measles that appears to be linked to the recent outbreak in West Texas. The individual, an adult resident of Rockwall County, tested positive for measles last week, according to an announcement on Rockwall County’s website.

In a refreshingly proactive move to quickly to address the situation, the Rockwall County Health Authority partnered with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to identify and notify anyone potentially exposed. The they were fortunate enough to have the infected individual at home during most of their infectious period, significantly reducing the risk of widespread transmission.
