WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A Dallas man whose conspiracy to rob and murder his Waco landlord that was spelled out in detailed phone messages with his co-defendants was sentenced to life in prison without parole Wednesday.
Jurors in Waco’s 19th State District Court deliberated an hour before convicting James Keylan Willis of capital murder in the Dec. 23, 2022, torture and shooting death of Stanley Wilcox, a military veteran whose sister reported his disappearance after Wilcox missed Christmas with his family.
Authorities found Wilcox’s body wrapped in a blanket and dumped into a creek bed under a bridge on the edge of the Baylor University campus on Jan. 6, 2023.
