Last week, a man in his 70s sparked a search and rescue operation after being reported missing near Diamond Head Crater. The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) assisted the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) in locating the man, according to an official report from the HFD.
The search began last Saturday, April 12, when HFD received a request at 2:50 p.m. They were already present due to a prior incident. Following the resolution of that incident, they quickly began to search the trail area to find the missing person. The man had become separated from his wife, who then initiated the search.
He was found on the east ridge of the famous crater. The HFD not only located the man, but they also ensured his well-being. “Rescue personnel were inserted via Air 1 near his location and a medical assessment was conducted to ensure there were no injuries,” the HFD document detailed…
