Man died at central Pa. jail of drug overdose, leaving family wondering how

A fentanyl overdose caused the death of a 27-year-old man who was found unresponsive in his jail cell last month at Lancaster County Prison, according to the county coroner’s office.

Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber on Tuesday confirmed that an autopsy ruled that Chaz Lowery, of Hanover, died from an overdose of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that is significantly more potent than morphine.
