Crime in Louisville on the downturn but it’s still major concern for police

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a busy shopping area near homes and churches, a 15-year-old boy told police he was robbed and shot on Tuesday night.

It happened around Standiford Plaza Drive and Beeler Way. The teen told police he was robbed at gunpoint and shot in the hand. Detectives say he received a graze wound and went to the hospital for treatment.

“Things like that don’t happen very often around here,” Stephen Lenberger, who’s lived in the area since 2011, said. “This is a fairly safe place to live…It surprises me. It’s disappointing.”…
