SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento is the first city in the U.S. to use AI-powered cameras on public transit buses to enforce parking violations in bike lanes.
The city is partnering with Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) to expand its existing automated bus stop enforcement program, which equips 100 buses with forward-facing cameras. Those cameras will now also monitor illegal parking in bike lanes.
“When vehicles park illegally in bike lanes, cyclists are forced into traffic, putting them at greater risk of serious injury or worse,” the city wrote in a news release…
