SAN DIEGO — The former San Diego State University student who was set on fire during a fraternity party in Feb. 2024 is suing the university and the fraternity.
Lars Larsen, a 19-year-old Phi Kappa Psi pledge at the time of the incident, alleges that during a Feb. 17, 2024, party, fraternity members forced him to dress up like a tiger and set himself on fire.
As the fire spread, fraternity members at the party panicked. According to the lawsuit, they rushed Larsen to a shower and wrapped him in a blanket but refused to call 911 for medical attention for three hours. By that time, the burns worsened. Larsen was hospitalized for 10 days at a hospital in Hillcrest before transferring to UC Davis Medical Center, where, according to the lawsuit, he received skin grafts, daily medical care, and now has burn marks and neuropathy on his legs and his back…
