STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of disease, death and disability in the United States, claiming more than 480,000 lives each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Despite the well-documented risks, which include cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease and more, tens of thousands of Staten Islanders continue to risk their health to smoke the highly-addictive, tobacco products.
But some parts of the borough seem to have much more smokers than others…
