Second suspect arrested in Ames shooting that stemmed from drug deal

DES MOINES, Iowa — A second arrest has been made in an Ames robbery and shooting that happened in February.

Juan Davila Moore, 23, is being held in the Story County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery and attempted murder, according to a news release from the Ames Police Department.

Police said the arrest was connected to a February 27th shooting in the 2500 block of Jensen Avenue in Ames. The victim, a 19-year-old male, was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment of gunshot injury to the abdomen.

Webster County deputy’s shooting of chase suspect ruled justified

The victim told police he was robbed and shot by two males who fled the area in a dark four-door car. He provided police with descriptions of the suspects. A criminal complaint filed in the case indicates the shooting happened during a drug deal.

Davila Moore has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 28th.
