Work begins in earnest south of Newberg on next phase of bypass

The next phase of the Newberg-Dundee bypass, formally known as an extension of Highway 18, has kicked into high gear south of town.

Primary contractor Wildish Standard Paving Company and a host of subcontractors have laid siege to the area around the eastern terminus of the first phase of the bypass where it intersects with Highway 219, as well as the intersection of Wynooski Road and the highway.

Crews have cleared away forested areas and laid down a thick layer of riprap gravel adjacent to the roadway in preparation for the ambitious effort to realign the bypass’ new connection with Highway 219…
