Man gets 29-month sentence for supplying fentanyl that killed another man at Tigard motel

A Washington County judge on Tuesday sentenced a Gladstone man to nearly two-and-a-half years in prison for giving another man fentanyl that later killed him.

Timothy Ryan Donovan, 31, pleaded guilty last week to a charge of criminally negligent homicide in the death of Ryan Hackett in September 2024, court records state.

On Sept. 12, 2024, Donovan met Hackett at a Tigard motel and gave him fentanyl, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. Hackett, who was still recovering from an earlier overdose, took the drugs, and Tigard police later found him unconscious inside a ground-floor room of the motel.
