Woman defrauds Ohio Medicaid out of $1.5M

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) — A woman convicted of bilking Medicaid out of $1.5 million was sentenced Thursday.

Janay Corbitt, 36, was sentenced to six to nine years in prison following her guilty pleas last month. She will also have to pay back the money she stole.

Corbitt was indicted in May 2024 after an investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office revealed that she stole multiple identities to open and operate two sham behavioral-health counseling agencies in the Dayton area. She also stole the identities of several licensed counselors, using their credentials to bill Medicaid for services that were never provided.

Corbitt was arrested at a bus stop in Dallas in August 2024 after she fled Ohio.
