Old Lansing Road (and the Defunct Village of Millett)

Old Lansing Road runs north from Michigan Plumbing, through Millett, and ends at the current Lansing Road. It’s a six-mile jaunt that runs parallel to Lansing Road, past the Woldumar Nature Center, through the former village of Millett, past the old 5railroad depot (now the Lansing Model Railroad Club), the B&I Bar that stands alone alongside the road, and the old one-room schoolhouse.

Old Lansing Road runs northeast smack between Lansing Road and the Grand River. For such a short distance, there are plenty of cool things to see. The small community once known as Millett (formerly Milletts) got swallowed up by Lansing’s continuing growth. At the junction of Old Lansing Road and Millett Highway (it’s not much of a highway…just a small street) is a brick building that may have been a town hall, and another structure that looks like it may have been some kind of auto repair establishment.

Across from the “town hall” and Old Lansing Road is the old depot, now the Lansing Model Railroad Club…
