Tequesta Sergeant Accused of DUI in Jupiter, Police Department Initiates Internal Review

An off-duty officer from the Tequesta Police Department, Sergeant Raymond Korkowski, has been accused of driving under the influence (DUI) following his arrest on Tuesday evening. He was observed by law enforcement in Jupiter making an illegal U-turn and driving in a manner that nearly caused a collision. According to CBS12, officers responded to a scene at an Exxon on Indiantown Road after reports of a pickup truck driving haphazardly.

The incident included Korkowski allegedly swerving between lanes and needing to be stopped by an officer who claimed to have detected a strong scent of alcohol emanating from the sergeant. He is reported to have exhibited slurred speech and to ultimately have declined to participate in a Field Sobriety Task. Korkowski also refused to provide a breath sample for testing. As the search of his vehicle transpired, officers discovered two cans of beer inside, further adding to the probable cause for his arrest, as detailed by CBS12.

Meanwhile, WPBF reports that Sergeant Korkowski was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, with a court date set for May 21. Following the arrest, the Tequesta Police Department released a statement indicating they “are aware of the recent DUI arrest of Sergeant Raymond Korkowski by the Jupiter Police Department” and an internal review has begun.
