As the weekend looms, Sacramento residents can expect to see a spike in temperatures, with what the National Weather Service (NWS) is calling a “Minor HeatRisk” for certain areas including the southern Sacramento Valley, Delta, and northern San Joaquin Valley, per the forecast released early this morning. Alongside the heat, breezy northerly winds are anticipated today, stirring up gusts between 30 to 80 percent probability of surpassing the 30 mph mark, particularly in the western Sacramento Valley.

The sweltering conditions are not fleeting, as the NWS expects the warming trend to press on through the weekend and into early next week, broadening the Minor HeatRisk to cover more ground across the Valley, Delta, and foothills, swelling temperatures well above the seasonal norm, yet the forecast doesn’t raise any alarms for severe heat just yet, despite a noticeable uptick in mercury.
