Judge dismisses Stockton councilwoman’s request for restraining order after court no-show

A Stockton councilwoman, who sought a restraining order against a frequent public meeting attendee , didn’t attend a court hearing meant to determine whether a long-term restraining order would be granted, according to court documents.

District 1 representative Michele Padilla, 57, was scheduled to appear in San Joaquin County Superior Court on April 10 for an order to show cause hearing. In such hearings, parties are required to appear in court on a specific date to explain to a judge why a requested order should or should not be granted.

However, Padilla was a no-show in court and Judge Gurjit Srai, who was overseeing the case, dismissed the case without prejudice. As a result, a temporary restraining order against the Rev. Ernest Williams, 80, was dissolved…
