Father and teen son plead in deadly Fayetteville home invasion that left teen paralyzed

A father and son pleaded guilty recently in Cumberland County Superior Court for a deadly 2023 home invasion that left the younger man — later charged in a separate homicide — paralyzed after his father accidentally shot him.

Donald Wayne McLucas Jr., 42, pleaded guilty April 1 to six felonies including second-degree murder in the April 2023 shooting on Alphin Street in which Robert Lawrence Nowell V , 36, was killed and three others were injured.
