Joy Prom: Katy ice cream shop, Miss Houston give special employee a night to remember

Prom night dreams came true for Trey Brandt, a young aspiring YouTuber, thanks to a heartwarming surprise arranged by Howdy Homemade Ice Cream and Miss Houston America, Louisa Estrella.

Trey is one of the beloved “Heroes” at Howdy Homemade Ice Cream—a Katy-based shop that champions inclusion by hiring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. During this prom season, CEO Roderick Batson went above and beyond to ensure one of their standout employees had an unforgettable experience.

The big surprise? Miss Houston herself would be Trey’s prom date for the Joy Prom at Cinco Ranch High School—an annual celebration created especially for individuals with disabilities to experience the joy of prom in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Louisa and Trey spent the evening dancing, walking the red carpet, creating art, snapping photos, and grooving to their favorite tunes. The bond they shared and the joy on Trey’s face were unforgettable.
