K9 helps track down, arrest suspect wanted on felonies

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A Colorado Springs Police Department K9 helped arrest a suspects who was wanted on various felony charges on Thursday, April 17.

At around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, officers located a suspect wanted for felony Domestic Violence Assault by Strangulation and felony Kidnapping. When officers tried to contact him, the suspect ran away from officers, into the 600 block of East Moreno Street, near Prospect Lake. Officer Rogers II saw the suspect jump a fence into a residential area and established a perimeter.

K9 Kai takes down suspect wanted on numerous charges

CSPD Officer Lofgren and his K9 Riggs arrived to assist with the search. K9 Riggs led officers to a shed located in a backyard; Officer Lofgren ordered the suspect to exit the shed and warned that a K9 was present. The suspect immediately ran out of the shed and tried to climb a fence to escape. K9 Riggs was released and bit the suspect on the calf.

The suspect was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and booked into the Criminal Justice Center. Their identity is not being released at this time…
