Less than a quarter of Boeing employees would recommend it as a place to work, survey shows

SEATTLE — A survey of Boeing employees shows that most staff don’t have faith in senior leadership, and only about a quarter of them would recommend the company as a good place to work, according to the results released on Thursday.

About 82% of employees responded to the culture survey, which was taken in February. The company said it was the highest level of participation since 2016. The results show the employee experience at Boeing is yet another area where the company needs to make up ground, alongside the financial and production-line recovery that has been ongoing for years.

  • Fewer employees (67%) say they’re proud to work at Boeing than in the past. Ninety-one percent said they felt pride in their place of work in 2013.
  • Just over a quarter (27%) would highly recommend Boeing as a place to work. At the same time, most employees indicated they planned to stay for more than a year (92%)
  • 42% of employees said they have confidence in their senior leader’s ability to make decisions, communicate direction and respond to concerns raised by employees
  • 54% of employees felt inspired by Boeing’s values, but most said the company needed to do a better job of living up to them
  • 75% of employees said their direct managers are effective
  • 61% said they feel their contributions are valued and recognized

CEO Kelly Ortberg spoke about the results and what he’s doing about them at the all-employee meeting in Seattle, Thursday. He said changing the company’s culture is “the most important work we can do to restore trust and turn our company around,” echoing similar sentiments he shared following a disappointing $3.3 billion loss in the third quarter in 2024. Ortberg pledged a “fundamental culture change in the company.”…
