First Alert Weather Friday for spring storm moving into Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A spring storm system sweeps through Arizona today bringing cooler temperatures, gusty winds, rain, snow and thunderstorm chances. It’s a First Alert Weather Day for significant weather changes.

The Valley will be breezy today with 10 to 15 mph winds and will warm to only 76 degrees this afternoon under partly sunny skies. While the first half of the day will be dry, there’s a 30% chance of showers this afternoon and a 40% chance this evening. Rainfall amounts should be fairly light, with slightly higher amounts on the northern and eastern edges of town. There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms that could also bring stronger winds and localized higher rainfall amounts.

Thunderstorms are also possible in the high country today. Snow and rain arrive during the morning hours and could continue into the afternoon hours. This could bring hazardous travel conditions with snow-covered roads and low visibility, especially with winds bringing blowing snow. Flagstaff could pick up a couple inches of snow…
