Man who drove recklessly around Portland metro area, posted videos on social media arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man who had been posting videos of himself recklessly driving around the metro area has been arrested, Portland police said Friday.

Police began an investigation in late March after tips from the public and stories from media outlets. Videos show the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Oscar Burell Jr., speeding, passing illegally, failing to maintain lanes, hanging out of the window of his moving truck, driving through parks and other reckless behavior, police said.

On Friday at 11:43 a.m., police responded to a hit-and-run report in the 3700 block of Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard. The officer recognized the suspect’s name and called for backup, which arrested Burell, who was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on three counts of reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person…
