LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — We will continue to see warm and windy conditions today with the chance for strong thunderstorms moving in two waves.
The Storm Prediction Center downgraded us to a marginal risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather today into tonight. The main threats to this system will be damaging winds and large hail. This is all associated with a low-pressure system well off to our west, with this morning’s storms linked to a warm front passing and this evening’s storms due to a slow-moving cold front.
Round one is currently moving through the area along a warm front. It will pack a punch with 60 mph winds or stronger, with the chance for quarter-sized hail! With strong winds and large hail, you should be prepared for some damage to trees, roofs, and even cars.
This first round of storms moves out by 2 pm and we see a quiet rest of the day with partly sunny skies and temperatures into the upper 70s with gusts into the 30 mph range possible…
