MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – Big city life doesn’t have the appeal it once had as prices and the cost of living continue to rise. One former city dweller moved her family to the county to grow and raise her own food, a growing trend across the country.
Friday, Wyneta Chambers gathered the eggs from the hens she raises in her backyard in Madison County. She and her husband, Tracey, gave up life in Canton for a rural community. She has chickens and is now raising turkeys and ducks.
After the 40-minute drive from her job in Jackson, she comes home to acreage where she grows everything from greens to citrus trees, herbs, and all types of vegetables…
