PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is facing an aggravated assault charge after a gruesome, unprovoked attack left the victim without an eye and a broken jaw in east Phoenix last week.
According to court documents, the victim was walking near a smoke shop on Broadway Road, just west of 48th Street, on April 11 around 1 a.m. when he said “how are you doing” to 38-year-old Daniel Lanks, who responded with saying he would “whoop his ass.” The man kept walking when Lanks came up from behind, stuck his fingers into the victim’s right eye socket and pulled it out, police said.
The victim fell and Lanks punched him in the face multiple times, fracturing his jaw, court paperwork said. Court documents said the victim later told police he felt his eye dangling from its socket. He then went home and his girlfriend called 911…
