Dad Arrested Taking Daughter to School

Additional Coverage:

Azusa, CA – A father’s routine school drop-off turned into a nightmare Thursday morning when immigration agents detained him in front of his 14-year-old daughter. Security footage captures the heart-wrenching scene as the man, dressed in blue, is surrounded by agents and taken away in a grey sedan. His distraught daughter ran back home, crying to her mother that “someone caught him.”

The man’s wife, also undocumented, bravely spoke out, her identity concealed to protect her family. Through tears, she recounted her husband’s shouts that the agents were from the government, though it remains unclear whether they were from ICE or the Department of Homeland Security. Neither agency has responded to requests for comment.

The family, originally from Puebla, Mexico, has called Azusa home for 21 years, raising three children and a grandchild. The wife expressed her bewilderment, stating her husband had no deportation order.

“Why did they take him?” she pleaded.

This incident comes amidst the ongoing legal battle surrounding the wrongful deportation of a Maryland man, adding another layer of complexity to the national debate on immigration.
