Shawn Giles’ loved ones inviting public to light up the town red for fallen firefighters

Loved ones of Shawn Giles, a North East firefighter who died in the line of duty, are spreading the word on how they’re looking to honor him and others who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our communities.

Every year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation urges people to place a red light outside or inside their home in memory of fallen firefighters.

Organizers hope to continue seeing the spread of red this year.

“My goal is to get the entirety of Erie County, all of the fire departments lit up red, whether it’s just one little bulb in the front or your whole building,” said Adele Burnette-Giles, Shawn Giles’s wife.
