Tax hike for NC sports betting operators could impact your odds

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – If you’ve gone online to place a sports bet this week, you probably got a notice to take action against a proposed tax hike from the North Carolina Senate. The tax for the operators would double from 18% to 36%, but operators say if they have to pay more money, that’ll impact the bets you place.

The Sports Betting Alliance wasn’t available for an on-camera interview, but a spokesperson says the tax hike could shut down promotions or incentives to bettors and impact your betting odds and lines. It could also cause some smaller licensed operators to completely shut down.
