‘My husband prepared me so well’: Remembering Deputy Tobin Bolter one year later

ADA COUNTY, Idaho — One year after Ada County Sheriff’s Deputy Tobin Bolter was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop, his widow, Abbey Bolter, remembers the man behind the badge and the life they built together.

Deputy Bolter, 27, was shot during a routine traffic stop on April 20, 2024. He died the following day. Bolter was the first line-of-duty death for the Ada County Sheriff’s Department.

The couple’s story began at church when they were 13 years old.
