Strong thunderstorms knock out power, down trees in central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — A line of strong storms downed trees and caused power outages in portions of central Indiana on Saturday.

In Hendricks County, numerous fallen trees were spotted. Along Thornburg Parkway in Brownsburg, a tree fell on a home.

Similar reports were made by the Washington Township/Avon Fire Department. In a Facebook post , the department indicated that its personnel responded to County Road 100 South Saturday morning to clear downed trees from the roadway.

High winds caused similar damage in Danville. On Facebook , the Danville Metropolitan Police Department indicated Saturday’s thunderstorms sparked vehicle crashes, downed powerlines and caused trees to fall.

At the intersection of Jefferson and Main Streets in Danville, high winds damaged a westbound traffic light. Officials had to temporarily close the intersection due to the extent of the damage the traffic signal sustained…
